Summer Recreation Counselor Positions Available

The Sandown Recreation Commission seeks applications for Counselors for the 2024 Summer Recreation Program.  Applications are available below. 

Counselor responsibilities include planning and running the summer program and activities for children entering grades 1 to grade 8. Counselors supervise small and large group activities and assist with the daily functions of the program.  The position involves a variety of physical recreational activities including running, walking, lifting, and swimming. This is a moderate to high level of sustained physical activity and is housed outdoors at varied locations.  There is a minimum 7-week commitment.  Counselors must be 16 years old or older.  Looking for individuals with great leadership qualities who enjoy children and have sound decision-making skills.  The positions report directly to the Summer Recreation Coordinators.  Pay is based on experience. 

Sandown Park and Recreation is looking for a MESH counselor for the 2024 season. MESH stands for Mental Emotional Social Health. This counselor's role is to help the camper who is at camp. This includes, but is not limited to, campers with verbal impairments, campers who have IEPS at school, campers who require transitioning help, or campers who need extra guidance. This counselor not only helps the campers involved but also works to teach and lead other counselors. Our ideal candidate for this position is someone who has experience in Special Education or has worked as a Para Educator in the school system. This is a full-time role, 40 hours a week for 7 weeks. Pay starts at $15 an hour.
