Full-Time Police Officer

The Sandown Police Department is seeking motivated, hardworking applicants of exceptional character for the position of a full-time police officer. Our new team members must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and have excellent communication and writing skills. Must meet or be able to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of NH (NHPSTC). Preference will be afforded to those candidates already certified by NHPSTC or whose out-of-state police certification would be recognized by NHPSTC. 

Applicants may be required to pass a written exam, physical agility test, oral board interviews, psychological testing, extensive background investigation, and medical examination. Current base pay ranges from $3,102 to $69,680, depending upon experience and qualifications. The base pay does not include shift differential, salary enhancements for associates, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, abundant opportunities for details, enforcement patrols, and special assignments. The current union contract calls for 10% increases per year..

Sandown Patrol Officers work a four-on-three-off schedule that rotates quarterly. They are members of Teamsters Local 633. Notable Union benefits include:

  • Up to five weeks of vacation.

Full-Time Highway Department Labor (2 openings)

The positions are 40 hours per week with on-call hours evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Applicant must be 18 years of age, able to work outside in all conditions, possess a valid NH driver’s license, medical card and have experience operating heavy equipment. The starting pay rate is $20.36/hour.

Part-Time Office Assistant to the Board of Selectmen

The Town of Sandown, NH is accepting resumes for the part time position of Office Assistant to the Board of Selectmen. Working under the direction of the Town Administrator, the Office Assistant provides direct support to the Town Administrator and Board of Selectmen, responds to inquiries from citizens, receives and distributes incoming mail, processes outgoing mail, works with the Assistant to the Town Administrator in the preparation of the Town Warrant and the annual Town Report.  

Must possess a high degree of confidentiality, initiative, and independent judgment in planning and carrying out responsibilities and a general knowledge of ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures of the Town a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
