Boat Registration Information

You can register boats here at the Sandown Town Clerk's office during our regular hours or at any NH town hall that does boat registrations.

You do not need to be a resident of New Hampshire to register a boat. The boat needs to be housed in NH or spend most of it's time in NH.

Boat registrations are valid January 1 - December 31 of the current year. All registrations expire on December 31 of the current year.

Boat registration fees are based on age, length and horsepower of the boat. We accept cash, checks and credit cards.

RENEWALS: If you are renewing a boat registration you should have received a renewal from the State of NH. This is all you will need for paperwork. Please bring the signed renewal form with you. If you did not receive the form or have lost it, please bring in last years registration. You will then need to fill out the RDMV 612 form again. This renewal needs to be done in person by the primary owner.

NEW REGISTRATIONS: If you are registering a new boat (even if it is just new to you!), the primary owner must appear in person and you will need the following:

  • A completed RDMN612 form from the State of NH
  • Picture ID, ie drivers license etc.
  • Bill of Sale
  • NH Bow number (if your boat does not have one, it will be assigned one)
  • Hull number
  • Year, make & model of your boat
  • Horse power of engine
  • Length of boat
  • What the hull is made of (fiberglass, wood, aluminum, plastic)
