The Sandown Historical Society was founded in 1978 with the purpose of restoring the Sandown Depot Railroad Station to it's former glory. The Station/Museum now contains an extensive collection of artifacts from days gone by. You may now try "Morse Code" on the telegraph key or ring the old hand crank telephone. In the men's waiting room is an old pot-bellied stove and a waiting bench. Display cases contain many other railroad artifacts, including Engineer's and Trainman's hats, operating manuals, books, maps, time-tables, and a mail grabber and mail bag. Our possessions of which we are most proud are two Flanger cars, a velocipede , and a motor car (putt putt).
The museum also has many old Sandown artifacts: tools and implements used by shoemakers, blacksmiths, farmers and housewives. on view, too, are military displays, account books and other memorabilia of those who lived in Sandown at an earlier time.
The Museum and Historical Society is located at the old Sandown Railroad Depot at the center of Sandown, New Hampshire.
Open: 1 - 5 PM Saturday and Sunday -   May through October.
Gift Shop items include: Post Cards, Maps, 1921 Cook Books, R.R. Spikes, Railroad Whistles and Sandown Train "T" shirts
