Girl Scouts is…
The world's leading organization dedicated solely to girls, where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with caring adults, girls develop qualities to serve them all their lives--like strong values, social conscience and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Through many enriching experiences, they grow courageous and strong.

The Girl Scout Mission Statement…
"Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place."
Our Unique Program…
Is based on a clear focus of doing what we do best. Our Council's vision encompasses developing self-esteem, encouraging personal growth, recognizing and addressing gender bias, appreciating diversity, fostering shared values, and developing and using resources effectively. We operate in an environment where every voice is valued and where each person is respected.
Girl Scouts of Swift Water Council…
Is one of 312 councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA which makes it a member of the largest voluntary organization for girls in the world. It is open to girls ages 5 through 17 (or kindergarten through grade 12) who subscribe to its ideals as stated in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. It is part of a worldwide family of girls and adults in 136 countries through its membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Girl Scouts of Swift Water Council, incorporated in 1958, serves more than 20,000 girls and adults throughout NH and eastern VT. Our annual budget of $5.1 million -- is supported in part by 6 United Ways, adult-generated giving, investments, and the annual cookie sale.
The council owns 8 properties used for troop camping and program activities, including two resident camp facilities: Camp Farnsworth in Thetford, VT and Camp Chenoa in Antrim, NH.
Be a Volunteer!
Life is a great adventure but one that children shouldn't have to tackle alone...
Children need caring adults who can help them navigate pitfalls and challenges. Someone to cheer, to care, to laugh with. Someone to help slow down a too-fast world that doesn't leave kids with time for childhood. Girl Scouts know this.
Girl Scouts of Sandown needs volunteers to help keep Girl Scouting vital and open to all who seek the movement's opportunities. For some adults, this may mean direct involvement with girls throughout the year. Then there are those who enjoy working with other adult volunteers. And those who only want to interact with Brownies! There's lots to do in Girl Scouts. You may want to volunteer but don't have enough time to be a troop leader or you may not want to work directly with girls. For some it may mean lending expertise for a short-term project. Troops are an important part of Girl Scout, but there are many amazing opportunities. You may be ready for a new challenge or you may know someone who is. We guarantee there is a volunteer opportunity to suit your lifestyle and needs. When you volunteer for an hour, you will feel terrific knowing you have helped girls grow strong and YOU will have a blast! No matter who you choose to work with or how much time you have to give, you can make a difference in the lives of girls.
